Why does Belvedere Organic Vodka cost more than a ‘classic’ vodka?
Belvedere Organic Vodka is a super-premium vodka made using the finest quality ingredients and sustainable production methods. These choices come at a premium, which we are proud to share.
- Exceptional flavour: Belvedere Organic Vodka offers a more complex and refined flavour profile compared to many classic vodkas, designed to appeal to consumers looking for a superior drinking experience. This quality often justifies the higher price for those who prioritize taste.
- 100% organic: Organic farming results in higher costs due to stricter regulations, certifications and sustainable agricultural practices. Organic fields yield half as much rye as non-organic fields, making our organic rye especially prized.
- Sustainability: Belvedere’s commitment to sustainability, including environmentally friendly production methods and initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, requires investment in better practices and technologies.
- Craftsmanship: Our traditional distillation methods are more labour-intensive and time-consuming than mass production processes. With this level of craftsmanship comes a higher price point.
To what extent is Belvedere Organic Vodka truly ‘organic’?
Belvedere Organic Vodka is 100% organic – and we have the EU and USDA organic certification to prove it. It means every ingredient must be farmed without artificial pesticides, additives or chemicals. It is not easy to be 100% certified. We never make our organic claims casually or carelessly.
What does it take to become organic certifed?
It takes time and dedication to become organic – a choice not all brands are prepared to make. At Belvedere we were determined to take this bold and audacious stance, paving the way for the future of luxury spirits.
Under strict rules, it took 3 years for our farmland’s rich soil to achieve organic status – the time needed for any previously used synthetic material to be removed from the land. At that point, we could plant organic-certified seeds into our organic-certified land. We waited another 10 months before the crop could be harvested.
Nurturing our fields, the natural way requires more time and effort to control pests and weeds, increasing labour costs . And it means our yields are lower: we plant twice as much organic rye for each bottle of Belvedere Organic Vodka. So, it is exceptionally scarce.
To earn our prestigious organic certification, every ingredient and every aspect of our craft has been rigorously assessed and approved by EU and USDA Organic.
Does organic rye taste different to regular rye?
The difference is subtle but undeniable. Using organic rye gives our vodka a complexity that sets it apart from conventional, non-organic vodkas. Organic farming, without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, tends to preserve the inherent flavours of rye, often resulting in a richer, more authentic taste profile with earthy and nutty undertones.
How is being organic today rooted in the brand’s core values?
Belvedere has long been famous for its commitment to craft and excellence, emblematic of a modern spirit where heritage and innovation go hand in hand. Moving to Organic is a conscious decision to live authentically and with purpose. And a seamless progression for a brand that has always insisted on the highest quality ingredients and processes in pursuit of perfection.
Moreover, our environmental commitments go beyond our organic status. The Belvedere Distillery in Żyrardów, for example, is now home to a pioneering biomass plant that generates 100% renewable energy, reducing our CO2-energy emissions to zero and supplying energy to surrounding communities. Our care for the environment is deeply rooted in our values.
